Gran Recosind is a fairly tiny production winery when compared most bodegas in Rioja.  Gran Recosind has a total of 12 hectares planted to wine grapes.  The spacing of the vines of rather far apart compared to the tight spacing of many modern wineries.  This open spacing is done partly to facilitate aeration of the vines reducing the disease, and therefore herbicides, familiar to costal zones with occastional humid air.
